El Rincón presents Dia De Los Muertos
Día de los Muertos (Day of the dead) November 2nd is a holiday celebrated in Mexico and in various Latin American countries. On this day, families and friends gather to pray and remember the lives of their loved ones who have passed. This joyful celebration is filled with color, love, and fun.
El Rincón Social honored this tradition with our own celebration on November 7, 2009. El Rincón Social featured local artist Mario Rivera, Patrick Renner and Allison Ardoin. A mass alter showcased the photographs of loved ones that have passed away, along with the offerings and crafts made at the workshops hosted by El Rincón Social. The alter was opened to the public and displayed photographs of anyone wishing to participate. Hand made crafts including sugar skulls, piñatas and paper flowers were for sale and all proceeds helped fund future workshops. Hot cocoa and coffee with pan dulce were served for everyone who came to celebrate the day.
